Rimini Lecture in Economics and Finance

The “Rimini Lectures in Economics and Finance” are held once
a year by leading experts in economics and financial issues.
This year’s lecture will be given by Dr. Salvatore Rossi, Managing Director,
Economics Research and International Relations Area, Bank of Italy.
“Finance, market, globalization: lessons from the ongoing crisis”
Salvatore Rossi

Born in Bari in 1949. He graduated in
mathematics before specializing in economics at the International
Monetary Fund and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1976 he joined the Bank of Italy and worked in the banking
supervision section of the Milan branch, then moved to the Economic
Research Department (1979), of which he was appointed head in July
2000. He has been lecturing in Economics at the Università di Roma 2
Tor Vergata.
He is the author of numerous articles on the international economy,
industrial economics, economic policy, and economic history, which have
appeared in Italian and foreign journals.
Recently published books include “La politica economica in Italia
1968-2007” (Laterza 2007), “La Nuova Economia: i fatti dietro il mito”
(Il Mulino 2003), and “La Regina e il Cavallo.
Quattro mosse contro il declino” (Laterza 2006).
On 5 February 2007 he was appointed Managing Director for Economics, Research and International Relations.
